2026 Update: Guard Promotion Committee
Ensuring that ensembles are placed in the correct competitive class is essential to maintaining fairness and fostering the educational growth of the performers.
In addition to the guard representatives on the Executive Board, MAC has founded a Promotion Committee to independently review guard ensembles who meet the criteria for automatic review and/or are requested a review by an adjudication panel at the conclusion of an event. 2025 Update: National A Class
Based on feedback from Directors and in alignment of rightsizing our class structures, there has been an update to the Guard classification of National A. Beginning this winter season, any ensemble who is participating in any number of WGI events in the A class, must sign up for the National A class in MAC. This will help ensembles to compete with each other that are designing shows for a national audience, promote advancement for the AA classes into a truly local A class, and allow those beginner ensembles to remain in the AA class with other similarly-designed ensembles.
