One of the best things about MAC, if not THE best thing, is that directors
are completely in control of the environment they have their bands in. When
costs need to be cut to save money on transportation budgets, we find a way.
When there are issues at hand to be discussed, we find a way. We are not
governed by a huge corporate budget. We govern ourselves. We are not seeking
world domination, only the offer the best possible environment for the bands
that perform within MAC.
This meeting is a perfect example. Here are some notes from that meeting.
Class IV and V to use A Class Designations
MAC has created two new divisions within Classes IV and V. The classes will
be split into 'A' divisions and 'Open' divisions. There is to be no
numerical changes in any sheets, or point system used to evaluate the
difference between an 'A' unit and an 'Open' unit. The choice to move to the
open division, within a class, is COMPLETELY within the directors
discretion.
The distinction of being in the Open class would be reserved for bands who
see themselves as more competitive. This allows bands who view themselves as
less competitive the freedom to perform side by side all the other bands of
similar size.
Fall Seeding System
MAC uses a wildly successful seeding system in the winter. We simply applied
the same principal to the fall season. The system rewards attendance at
events first, and highest score second. The chart, and formula is listed
below.

The point totals from each show attended will be added to the average
of the bands three highest scores to determine the raw point total. Highest
raw point total performs last, and so on. Bands who are new to MAC and only
choose to compete in two shows will have their to highest scores averaged.
